In the visual arts, phenomena of perception have played a significant role since 1900 at least - artists explore them by means of experimental procedures and artistic methods that create a point of intersection between the Arts and the Sciences. In addition, specific forms of perception - such as the synaesthetic experience of the world - came into the focus of artists. The term synaesthesia derives from the Greek syn - together and aesthesis - feeling and describes a phenomenon in which two or more senses connect within human perception. The exhibition FREQUENZEN follows on from artistic investigation of precisely these phenomena and presents contemporary positions that generate and investigate perceptional and sensory experiences through sound, movement, light, and shadow.
